Bannigan Communications has begun a pro-bono PR campaign for The Hong Kong Women’s Choir (THKWC), to raise awareness of their 2016 – 2017 20th anniversary celebration.

THKWC was founded in 1997 by a group of dedicated female singers with a common love of singing and giving back to the local Hong Kong community. With over a dozen different nationalities represented in the choir’s membership, the group has performed songs in English, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Dutch, Russian, French, Swahili, Tagalog, Zulu and more.

The season kicks off with a free concert at Hysan Place, Causeway Bay, organized together with Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LSCD), jointly presented with the Wan Chai District Council and the Women Gather Association.

With a reprise of their Soul Sister’s repertoire, the concert is harmoniously aligned with the LSCD objective of enriching the community’s quality of life through cultural activities commensurate with Hong Kong’s development as a world-class city and events capital.

The concert venue is generously sponsored by Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, with its 17 floors of prime retail therapy, and will take place in the spacious ground floor atrium (near the Apple store) to allow the choir voices to soar over the energetic beeping of nearby electronic devices. Hysan Place is a long-standing supporter of community arts and cultural performances, in their efforts to bring the local Hong Kong community closer together.

The general public is welcome to come and enjoy this soulful performance of a revered local choir that has become a long-standing 20-year Hong Kong tradition. To imagine the Soul Sister’s repertoire, think Aretha Franklin meets Duffy, with some Bruno Mars thrown in for good measure.

The choir is made up of two sister groups: NOVA, the core group of singers performing a cantata, to accompaniment, and Grace Notes, who sing a cappella (unaccompanied). Together, they personify the belief that music can inspire, delight, and even heal the human soul.

The Hong Kong Women’s Choir welcomes the entire Hong Kong community to help celebrate their 20th anniversary Fall/ Winter season together. The celebration will be filled with an array of festive concerts, including:

20th October          Chater Gardens Soul Sisters Reprise (Grace Notes)

3rd December         Children’s Tea, Li Sing Tai Hang School (Nova & Grace Notes)

11th December       Grappa’s Family Holiday Brunch Concert (Nova & Grace Notes)

15th December       The Hub Holiday Concert (Grace Notes)

16th December       MTR Holiday Flash-Mob-Style Performance (Grace Notes)
